The holiday season can be stressful, overwhelming, even depressing. Are you setting yourself up for success or failure this year? Before you tackle your “To-Do” list, look at each item and ask yourself, “Is this important or just urgent?”
We are surrounded by “Urgent!” Are YOUR “Urgent” items actually helpful/ uplifting to you or your family? Or are they just time pressing items? Will they affect your life for the better or are they just a distraction? What items are better taken off your list? Are there things they should be replaced with instead or does your list just need to be burned, so to speak?
Remember also that traditions, too, can be either harmful or helpful. Are your traditions stressing you and/ or your loved ones out? If so, it is time to let them go. Do you need some new life-giving traditions? What can be let go of and replaced with something better? Open up your mind to a better way of living!
One more thing, cheer is contagious! Smile more! Be thankful for all those small things. A kind word goes a long way. Hold a door, say something nice, write a kind note, clean up for someone without wanting recognition, include widows or those alone in your special times. There are so many ways to create cheerfulness. Each person has the ability to build someone up or tear them down. Choose kindness and grace this holiday season! And…let all the unimportant things fall to the wayside. Spend YOUR time WISELY, not begrudgingly, this holiday season and maybe, just maybe you will bring cheer to someone else, as well.
